Some of my big regrets today:
1. Not running/walking until today after doing an 11 miler on Saturday. ( I could give all the excuses but really, I should've gotten my butt in gear and done this Monday.)
2. Running/walking in this heat is way different than what I've ever done before. I love this 77 degree weather but it killed me and slowed me way down!
3. Running/walking in the shorts that I did. I need some more tight running shorts. The Soffe shorts just aren't cutting it (i.e. riding up BIG TIME!), which I'm sure was a cause of the slowness.
4. Only doing 2 miles, when I should've done 3 or 4.
In other news,
My Nike + decided to work tonight fully! I have been having trouble with the "lady" talking to me (i.e. letting me know my stats) when I'm on my run. Then Saturday it didn't work all together. I'm not sure if I want to retire it yet and look for a watch device that will track my mileage and such. If you know of any good ones, I would love your input!
I've been looking up and trying different health/protein bars and I love the Luna bars!!!! I've tried the Chocolate Peppermint Stick and the S'mores and I definitely love the Chocolate Peppermint Stick!
Lastly, I AM ON SPRING BREAK IN ONE DAY!!!! I will be picking up the pace over SB and training more!

8 miles turned into 11 miles
Saturday was such a beautiful day here in Nashville, TN! Me and my sister-in-law met up at Centennial park in downtown Nashville at 9. We looked up the route for our Half-Marathon we are doing here in a couple weeks to get familiar with it. Kenzi did this Half-Marathon 2 years ago so she was pretty familiar with the course. We planned to warm up around Centennial, stretch, and then go 4 miles in and back. Well we got to the front of the park where the road is and my stupid Nike+ stopped working again. My iphone couldn't pick up the sensor and this is a brand new sensor. I've only used it once and now it doesn't work!!!!! I was pretty angry! So we were off and jogged some, mostly walked but it was at a great pace I thought, since this was truly our first "Long" run/walk. We got to Belmont University and Kenzi said she wanted to show me a house about another mile or so down the road. We ended up going 5.5 miles in and back, totaling to a whopping 11 miles, folks! I was really struggling the last end of it but we made it back in 2 hours and 30 minutes. During our walk/run, we stopped at McDonald's to use the bathroom and then at the turn around point to stretch, so that might skew the time a bit but none the less, I was very proud of us! We took some fun pics of the city, Music Row, etc!
P.S. Saturday was also amazing because my team made it to the final four! Let's Go WVU!

4 miles outside!
I was definitely pumped to get outside and run/walk today! It was absolutely gorgeous! 68 degrees and sunny! I talked my teacher friend, Amy, into going a couple miles down the road to the Kedron Road walking trail. They need to expand their parking, that is for sure! She had to bring her 3 and 1/2 year old with her and forgot the stroller. So some of my training was a little slower pace than what I wanted having a trike but that little boy is a DOLL and is so funny! So I didn't mind at all! Plus, it was nice to have someone to walk/jog with me! I think she is going to start training with me after the music city half! I'm so excited! All in all, I did 4.10 miles in 57 minutes. Not my best but give me a break, I just am getting over being majorly sick! :) I took some pics on my iphone of the beauty of the place I got to train today! I will definitely be going back!

Short training Saturday
Unfortunately I came down with Strep throat and an ear infection Thursday which put a damper on my full week of training. I'm not surprised because I am a 1st grade teacher and I am exposed to it all the time. But I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired. I had woken up in the middle of the night Wednesday with a fever of 103, which I can't remember the last time I ran a fever, went to the doc the next morning, had to miss work Thursday and Friday. So I missed my short 3 mile on Thursday.
Today I woke up feeling good. Not great but good. I felt no pain in my throat, no fever and no pain in my ear. I decided to give my sis-in-law a call to see if she wanted to walk. I couldn't stay inside on this beautiful 73 degree March day in Nashville! I went up to her house and we walked all over her neighborhood. We walked at a good pace but there were a lot and I mean A LOT of hills! We did 5.32 miles in 1:22. Not the greatest but not the worst. We definitely need to kick it up since we only have 35 DAY UNTIL RACE DAY!!! AHHH so crazy!
All in all it was nice to be outside and walk!

5 miles feels fine :)
This is the first 5 miler during the week that I have experienced. I was dreading running this on the treadmill. I can only bare about 3 miles before becoming totally bored, even with the tv on. I walked outside and realized it wasn't as cold as I thought it was going to be. So, I ran/walked 2 miles outside around our townhouse complex. Then I went into the workout room and did 3 miles on the treadmill. I ran about .25 miles outside, a mile straight through on the treadmill and then spurts of a couple .25 miles on the treadmill. I did 5 total miles in 1 hour and 3 minutes!!!!!!
Which makes me happy to say this....after googling for the past 3 days about how to get my new nike plus sensor to connect to my iphone, I finally found a forum that showed me how to get my new sensor to work! I was so mad that I couldn't get it to work...and then by doing what that forum told me, it magically worked! Boy, I was getting ready to be really mad at apple and give them a piece of my mind!!!
Overall, I think my workout went pretty well considering my throat and ears are starting to hurt again...heaven forbid I get another case of strep throat :( Oh the joys of the first year of teaching and teaching 1st graders. Even though this has nothing to do with running, I love it and HAPPY ST. PATTY'S DAY!!!!!

Happy and Frustrated? Possible?
I am happy because:
* I ran for a mile and a half without stopping tonight.
* I am getting motivated again. (last week was rough)
*I got a new sensor for my nike+, the old one's battery is dying.
*I totaled 3 miles on the treadmill in 27 minutes.
*I love my new playlist! Finally got one that I don't want to change the songs every few minutes!
(See Playlist below)
I am frustrated because:
*My nike+ sensor is not registering on my iphone and after reading
several forums and directions, I still can't figure it out :(
* The weather tricked us and is chilly again.
* I slacked big time last week and need to get my butt in gear again.
*Day-light savings time change is killing me!

74 degrees in March..I think so!
What a beautiful March 8th! We had professional development today county wide and it was pretty productive but I was itching to get out of there so I could go do my run/walk outside! We got home around 4 and I immediately changed and headed for the trail over in Wyngate subdivision which is a minute from my house. The trail is paved and about a half mile long. I ran a quarter of that and then walked on the sidewalks of the subdivision for about a mile and a half. Then I went back down the trail, turned around and ran the whole thing!!!! I kept saying out loud (thankfully no one was close to me and I didn't know how loud I was saying it because of my headphones) "I can do this, I can do this!" and it helped! Not to mention I was also listening to Israel and the New Breed Praise and worship songs and they always pump me up! Then I turned around and walked the rest of the trail back to my car! Total of 3 miles!
Needless to say..it was a great afternoon....except when my hubby came in and I didn't have the oven preheated! :/ OOPS!!! Guess I was too busy writing this post to remember to preheat the oven!

4 mile Monday
I purposely went down to our complex workout room to walk on Monday because the Bachelor Finale was on and I knew Derek wouldn't let me watch it. So I decided I should go down there for 2 hours to watch it. There was one girl in there at first but she didn't have the TV on, so I thought I would take advantage of that. I did 4 miles in about 50 minutes and then I stretched for a while, did crunches, stretched some more, did the bike for a little bit until my legs felt like complete jello and then stretched/sat on the floor for the rest of the time. I'm pathetic! I was clearly disappointed in the end because Tenely was great. Anyways, that was the adventure of my training on Monday. I also ordered the armband pictured a couple posts below for $6.95 on Amazon! I hope it comes soon!!!!!
