Day 3

Today I thought was going to be another tough day. Amy and I were suppose to do an hour of Zumba at the Rec Center and then I was going to walk/run 2 miles but I looked on the wrong calendar for the Zumba time and missed it.

I only walked this time on the treadmill for 2 miles. I also used my iphone with the nike+ feature for the first time, instead of using my ipod nano (a million generations old), and like it much better! Oh the iphone...what a great invention!

Anyone know any good shin stretches? Also, I have nike air + tennis shoes. I got them about 2 summers ago and they are still in good shape as far as I know. How do I know if they are good shoes for my training/half marathon?

P.S. I love being a teacher in Tennessee. I have a snow day tomorrow and it hasn't even snowed yet. Calling for ice and snow tomorrow. What a great way to spend my "rest" day!

Day 2

Yesterday was suppose to be my day of rest...yet it was the 100th day of school and since I'm the coolest 1st grade teacher, I was in charge of Exercising for 100 seconds. We did class rotations all day so the other teachers had different things going on in their rooms. We have 7 first grade classes in our school, so I had to do exercises for a total of 30 min. times that by 7.....sheesh! So much for a rest day. I sure felt it this morning!

Anyways, I counted up the weeks and I have 13 weeks until the big race. I think I was over-zealous Monday on getting pumped up. Realized that I probably need to start off a little slower...although I went to the rec center tonight with Amy and did the Target Zone and Pilates classes that totaled an hour, I then proceeded to go into the work out room and walk on the treadmill for 2 miles. I did spurts of running, but not much.

Tomorrow I'm going to Zumba with Amy and will probably walk 2 more miles!

Day 1

My sister-in-law convinced me to run/walk the Music City Half-Marathon in April. The company she works for will reimburse her and someone else if they complete the half-marathon. So I agreed, needing a motivation to get in shape for the summer.

Day 1 consists of 3 miles to start. I was pumped all day to start training. Not like me considering I am not a runner. But I started out slow and worked my way up to running in intervals. Walked at a fast pace for 5 minutes, ran for 1, walked for another 5 minutes, ran for 2, walked for another 5 minutes, ran for 3. I walked for the rest of the time but finished 3 miles in 30 minutes.

There's a first time for everything. First time running (mostly walking) a half-marathon!

Tips are appreciated!
